Description
Arbegona is in the woreda district located in the Sidamo Zone of southern Ethiopia. Around 1,920 to 2,400 meters above sea level, Arbegona is made up of almost 400 smallholder farms ranging from 0.5 to 5 hectares. These farms grow coffee at one of the highest points in Ethiopia. The soil is mainly made up of mostly clay which has nutrients such as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium, with other micronutrients. The high elevation contributes to the beans density while the nutrient rich soil contributes to the complex flavor profile of this coffee.
Each coffee cherry is hand picked and immediately sent to the washing station to be sorted and processed. This coffee underwent a washing process, to separate the bean from the cherry and mucilage. It is then dried on raised beds and turned daily to help with even drying.
The elevation, soil, climate, and detailed processing all contribute to this sunning coffee. With primary notes of orange sherbet and lemon candy, this coffee has a lot to offer.
